In some organizations, others quietly build their foundation through honesty and dedication in the heart and hustle of their daily work just like Sir Roam “Nong Roam” Labatorio, a Utility Messenger at Taytay Sa Kauswagan (A Microfinance NGO), Inc. for 24 years.
Starting his career in the organization, Sir Roam faced numerous challenges with his daily routine because it required him to move from one bank to another, adapting to different people and unexpected situations. It was not an easy transition, but instead of giving in to frustration, he chose to rely on courage and determination, anchored in prayer. His steadfast belief in himself became his guiding light.
“I believed in myself, and I knew that if you are determined in your work, you can achieve your goal,” he shares.
His perseverance eventually bore fruit. Through years of dedication, he mastered the responsibilities of his role, proving that resilience and self-belief can turn challenges into stepping stones toward success.
Beyond professional dedication, Sir Roam draws strength from his family. They are his inspiration, his reason to push forward even on the toughest days. For him having a purpose beyond himself fuels his passion for his work.
“What drives my passion every day, even during tough times, is my family. I need an inspiration to keep going, and by making my inspiration, I found the courage to persevere even when things are hard,” he says.
With this mindset, he continues to find motivation in his daily responsibilities, ensuring that every task he completes contributes not just to his personal growth but also to the well-being of his loved ones.
Sir Roam has fully embraced the organization's Core Values and principles. His belief in purposeful work has allowed him to handle any hardship that comes his way. He understands that his role is to ensure that every action benefits the organization and the people.
“Through the values I learned from TSKI, I knew within myself that whatever hardships and challenges I encounter, I can handle them. If I work with a purpose—not just for myself but for the benefit of everyone—whatever problems we face, we can handle them properly,” he emphasizes.
This commitment to service has made a significant impact, not just within the organization but also among the clients he interacts with. His ability to solve problems efficiently and without delay has earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.
“My advice to my fellow employees is always to prioritize work and view it as a source of inspiration so you can become more productive and enjoy what you are doing.”
